
History of the asp
asp - that is the Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Sportpsychologie e.V. The asp was founded in 1969 and is the interest group for sport psychology in German-speaking countries. With more than 560 members, it is an association of scientists, colleagues working in the field and people interested in sport psychology.
Its aim is to promote and further develop German-speaking sport psychology in all its facets. It sees its tasks in particular in the
Promoting sports psychology research and applied sports psychology work with coaches and athletes,
Networking members working in sports psychology, both within and outside the organization
Organizing conferences, workshops, theme days and congresses,
Promotion of young sport psychologists,
Awarding of prizes,
commenting on issues relating to sport psychology,
Representing the interests of sport psychology at national and international level.
The association is a member of the Fédération Européenne des Sports et des Activités Corporelles (FEPSAC), the European Sports Psychology Association and the International Society of Sport Psychology (ISSP; @issponline). The asp also maintains numerous collaborations: it represents a section in the German Association for Sport Science (dvs; @dvs_sportwissenschaft) and cooperates with the Austrian Federal Network of Sport Psychology (ÖBS), the Swiss Association of Sport Psychology (SASP)
